TACO PIZZA
Taco Pizza is a delightful fusion of two beloved dishes – tacos and pizza. This flavorful and versatile dish features a crispy pizza crust topped with seasoned ground beef, gooey cheese, and a variety of toppings inspired by traditional tacos. It’s a perfect option for a fun and delicious meal that the whole family will enjoy.
Ingredients:
For the pizza crust:
- 1 pre-made pizza dough or homemade pizza dough
- Cornmeal (for dusting)
For the taco meat:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the pizza toppings:
- 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese (or cheddar cheese)
- Lettuce, shredded
- Tomatoes, diced
- Black olives, sliced
- Jalapenos, sliced (optional)
- Sour cream (for serving)
- Salsa (for serving)
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven according to the instructions for your pizza dough.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface or pizza peel.
- Dust a baking sheet or pizza stone with cornmeal to prevent sticking.
- Transfer the rolled-out pizza dough to the prepared baking sheet or pizza stone.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is softened.
- Drain any excess grease from the skillet and stir in the taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
- Spread the taco meat evenly over the pizza crust, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the taco meat.
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven according to the instructions for your pizza dough, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Top the taco pizza with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, black olives, and sliced jalapenos, if desired.
- Slice the pizza into wedges and serve it hot with sour cream and salsa on the side.
Note: Feel free to customize the toppings to your liking. You can add guacamole, chopped green onions, or any other taco-inspired toppings that you enjoy.
