Hoagie
A hoagie, also known as a sub or a hero, is a type of sandwich that typically consists of a long roll or baguette filled with various deli meats, cheeses, and toppings. Here’s a recipe to make a classic hoagie sandwich:
Ingredients:
- Hoagie rolls or baguettes
- Deli meats (such as ham, turkey, roast beef, or salami)
- Sliced cheese (such as provolone, Swiss, or cheddar)
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Onion slices
- Pickles (optional)
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) if you prefer a warm hoagie.
- Slice the hoagie rolls or baguettes lengthwise, leaving one side connected.
- If desired, lightly toast the rolls in the oven for a few minutes.
- Spread a layer of mayonnaise on the inside of the rolls.
- Layer the deli meats and cheese on one side of the rolls.
- Add lettuce leaves, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles (if using) on top of the meat and cheese.
- Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Drizzle some mustard on top of the vegetables.
- Close the hoagie rolls and press them lightly to hold everything together.
- Slice the hoagies in half if desired and serve immediately.
